Kentucky vs Georgia

Georgia made it this far after hammering Vanderbilt, 78-62, in Wednesday’s action, and then used a suffocating defensive effort to beat Missouri on Thursday, 62-60. Maten finished with a game-high 21 points to lead Georgia to the hard-fought win.

This year will mark the SEC’s first tournament in St. Louis after three seasons at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Games will be played at the Scottrade Center.

The last time UK played in the Scottrade Center was during the memorable 2014 NCAA Tournament run. This was the building where UK defeated previously undefeated and top-seeded Wichita State in a thriller to advance to the Sweet 16.

Georgia Bulldogs (18-14, 9-11 in SEC) vs Kentucky Wildcats (21-10, 10-8 in SEC)

Date: March 9, 2018

Game time: The game is slated to begin around 3:25 pm EST, but it’s actually 25 minutes after Auburn faces Alabama at 1 pm EST, so plan accordingly.

TV: ESPN

Online Stream: WatchESPN and the WatchESPN app. You can also listen to the game via the SEC Radio Network.

Rosters: UK | UGA

Replay: WatchESPN

Radio: Tom Leach and Mike Pratt will have the UK radio network call on 630 AM and 98.1 FM in Lexington or online at UKAthletics.com.

Tickets: Tickets for the SEC Tournament are on sale at Ticketmaster.com.

Odds: UK opened as a 3-point favorite. KenPom projected UK to be a 4.5-point favorite and gives the Cats a 65-percent chance of winning. However, that projection is likely assuming Jarred Vanderbilt plays. So if he’s out, UK will probably be a 1-point favorite or this game could be a toss up.

Prediction: I’m going to assume Vanderbilt is held out of this game and give UK a 71-70 edge. If Vanderbilt ends up playing, I give UK the edge, 73-67.

Kentucky vs Arkansas 87-72

Kevin Knox is a road warrior. The freshman forward from Tampa continues to have his best outings on the road.

His latest work of art was a 23-point outing on 8-of-18 shooting to go with seven rebounds and two steals. Nine of them came within the first eight minutes of the second half as UK really began making its run to take command for good.

Knox is becoming a superstar, who could be in for a special March.

Kentucky vs Tennessee (61-59) TN

Revenge. Redemption. Reorientation toward a strong finish to the regular season. Much was on the line for Kentucky against Tennessee on Tuesday night.

UK Coach John Calipari took the unusual step of repeatedly appealing to fans and students to support his young squad with full-throated cheering.

Ultimately, it would be up to UK, which claims the dubious distinction of being the least-experienced team in college basketball history, to excite the fans.

Kentucky vs Vanderbilt

Kentucky snatched an 83-81 victory from the jaws of defeat on Tuesday night in a down-to-the-wire overtime thriller it frankly, had no business winning.

The 21st-ranked Wildcats trailed by as many as 14 points to the visiting Commodores in the second half before they made an impressive run, led by freshman Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, to close the gap. Still yet, the final surge didn’t appear to be enough.

With six seconds left in regulation, Vandy hit a free throw to extend its lead to 71-69. And after UK inbounded and nearly turned the ball over, the Cats went into full-on scramble mode … and Vanderbilt bailed them out by fouling and sending Gilgeous-Alexander to the line with two seconds left.

The freshman knocked down a pair of free throws that would send the game to OT.

Kentucky vs Mississippi State

The Wildcats flirted with disaster one more time late when, up nine with 3:15 to go, Quade Green fouled a 3-point shooter and MSU convened a 4-point play.

From there, it was a flurry of energy and effort for Kentucky: a big offensive rebound by Knox (who produced 19 points on just 6 field-goal attempts), impressive drive and finish by Washington, who then snared a defensive board and got fouled and swatted a Bulldogs shot into the crowd, and a putback bucket by Gabriel.

Washington set a new career high with 22 points (to go with 6 rebounds) and the Cats (15-5, 5-3 SEC) avoided the first three-game losing streak of the John Calipari era. That might’ve been the best finish UK has produced in conference play.

Up next: a huge test at West Virginia.
